How to build the habit of reading the Bible every day

Almost everyone has started a reading plan and stopped halfway. The problem is rarely a lack of will: it is starting too big. The path that works is small and steady.

Start with a verse, not a chapter

Five minutes a day is worth more than an hour on Sunday. Read one verse, read it again slowly and ask: what does this say about God, and what does it ask of me today? Once the habit is firm, reading more happens by itself.

Tie the reading to something you already do

A new habit sticks to an old one. Read right after your coffee, on the bus or before turning off the light. Pick a time and keep it for two weeks before deciding whether it works.

Get a new verse every day

Save your favorites, keep your prayer time and pray with the community. It is free.

Start for free

Let the streak help you

Counting days in a row sounds silly, but it works: nobody wants to break a twenty-day streak. If you miss a day, do not start from zero in your head. Just come back the next day.

Carry one sentence into the rest of the day

Pick a short phrase from what you read and repeat it to yourself during the day, or send it to someone. What is shared is remembered.

Bible verses about wisdom

“If any of you lacks wisdom, ask God, who gives freely to everyone.”

James 1:5

“The fear of the Lord is where wisdom begins.”

Proverbs 9:10

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.”

Proverbs 3:5-6

“Wisdom comes first; so go and get wisdom.”

Proverbs 4:7
